Tuesday, Oct 27, 2009 @04:05pm CDT Indiana is reporting its first human rabies death since 2006, and only the second such death since 1959.
The State Health Department says a person in Clark County, Indiana, recently died from the disease. The person had not reported any exposure of concern, but testing from the Center For Disease Control shows the source of the infection was a bat. The Health Department says rabies is a rare disease, but once a person contracts the disease it is almost 100 percent fatal. |
