Reported by: Web Producer Thursday, Nov 19, 2009 @08:50am CST He's performed with some of country music's biggest names-- Eric Church, The Marshall Tucker Band and James Otto just to name a few. He aspires to someday be as big as Garth Brooks. The tri-state's own, Jason Clutter, is a rising Nashville star.
We take a look at how he got his start in the industry and learn a little more about the man behind the music. Since 2004 Jason Clutter has been lighting up stages from Evansville to Nashville. Clutter explains how it began, "I was at a gathering one night playing one of my original songs and a guitarist came up to me and said, 'hey i think we can make some music,' and that's how it started." Before that his life was about baseball. Clutter grew up in Elberfeld, moved to Haubstadt and now resides in Princeton. He played college ball at Vincennes and Oakland City Universities, but when his arm gave out senior year, his dreams turned from the big leagues to the big stage. Clutter says, "I love music and I love the stage as much as anything. My dream is to do this for a living, to go as far as I can." Clutter's group has evolved over the years from a few local guys playing back up to an ensemble of trained musicians called The Dirty South Band. They're recording an album with Jason this month. The band's first single should be available on i-tunes as early as December and the GAC cable station will pick up the band's first music video a month later.
