Gas Grills Sold By Lowes Subject Of National Recall
(Washington, DC) -- A popular gas grill sold by Lowes stores nationwide is being recalled.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the burners in the "Perfect Flame" propane and natural gas grills can deteriorate causing irregular flames.
The problem can cause lids on some models to catch fire.
The manufacturer, Lucas Innovation of China, has received about 40 reports of problems with the burners and about 23 reports of lids catching fire.
At least one user suffered an eye injury that required surgery and there have been 21 incidents reported involving minor burns to hands, arms or face.
The government agency says about 663-thousand of the grills have been sold in the U.S. between September of 2005 and May of this year.
Owners are being told to stop using the grills immediately and contact the importer, L.G. Sourcing of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina to receive free replacement burners and, in some cases, a replacement lid.
Affected model numbers and other details are posted on the Lowes website, Lowes.com.
