Three of America's leading airlines are planning to cash in big-time on holiday travel. United, Delta and Northwest Airlines have all announced ten to 50-dollar surcharges on tickets for heavy travel days and holidays between Thanksgiving and Memorial Day. The 50-dollar surcharge will be levied on flights February 8th, the day after the Super Bowl. And according to "USA Today," US Airways will implement their own surcharge equal to five-percent of the ticket price on all domestic flights starting next May. Domestic airlines are projecting a loss about four-billion dollars this year. (Copyright 2009 by VERTEXNews/Newsroom Solutions) RNS-11-19-09 |
