A man wanted in connection with a Mount Vernon murder investigation should be back in Posey County by the end of the week. Officials found Lee Kershaw over the weekend near Acapulco, Mexico. He is being held in a jail in Arizona pending his extradition back to Indiana. Police say on the 21st, Kershaw went into his ex-wife's house in the middle of the night and then used an assault rifle to shoot her new boyfriend, John David. Kershaw is scheduled to be in Posey Circuit Court Friday at 8:30. Prosecutors say he is not eligible for the death penalty. Original Report 11/29: Mount Vernon Police say Lee Kershaw, wanted on murder charges, is in police custody. Officers say they were notified Saturday night by United States Marshal's Service that Kershaw is in a Phoenix, Arizona jail. Kershaw was apprehended by Mexican authorities in the Alcapulco area. He was arrested without incident. Authorities say Kershaw entered his ex-wife's house in Posey County just before 5:00 on the morning of November 21st and shot her new boyfriend three times. Jon Davis of Mount Vernon was pronounced dead at the scene. Family members say Kershaw and his ex-wife had been split up for several months and their divorce had just been finalized.
