Reported by: Web Producer Monday, Jul 7, 2008 @10:40am CDT Talk of a mandatory helmet law for Hoosier motorcyclists is surfacing again. Indiana State Senator Thomas Wyss, of Ft. Wayne says if a new helmet law is proposed, he'd hold a hearing to look into accident statistics. One bike rider, Randy Haire, says there isn't any excuse for people not to wear a helmet. He says with motorcycle deaths rising 80% in the last ten years many riders feel its important to wear a helmet when riding. Currently, in Indiana, people under 18 are the only riders required to wear helmets. Currently, there are 20 states plus Washington DC that enforce laws requiring helmet use.
