  • Right to Life Calls for Planned Parenthood Investigation
    Reported by: Web Producer

    Thursday, Dec 11, 2008 @04:10pm CST

    News release:
    From: Right to Life, Indianapolis

Marc Tuttle, President of Right to Life of Indianapolis, joins with American Life League and other pro-life leaders to call for Planned Parenthood investigation

Indianapolis, IN – Right to Life of Indianapolis President, Marc Tuttle, will join with Jim Sedlak, national director of American Life League’s Stop Planned Parenthood International (STOPP), Eric Slaughter, co-director of the Indianapolis 40 Days for Life prayer vigil and other Central Indiana pro-life leaders this Saturday morning, December 13, at a prayer vigil and press conference to request Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter to investigate Planned Parenthood of Central Indiana.

The press conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at Planned Parenthood’s abortion facility, located at 8590 Georgetown Road in Indianapolis. The press conference will precede the “Empty Manger” caroling event planned by the 40 Days for Life vigil coordinators, the Great Lakes Gabriel Project, Indianapolis sidewalk counselors and other pro-life advocates from Central Indiana.

Recent video footage captured inside Planned Parenthood’s abortion facility in Bloomington, Indiana has raised concerns that Planned Parenthood may be acting routinely to cover-up statutory rape and sexual abuse.

“While Planned Parenthood claims to be in the business of promoting health, their own counselors appear to thumb their noses at child abuse reporting laws and parental notification laws,” said Tuttle. “Far from advocating the ‘health’ of young women, Planned Parenthood is profiting by covering up their abuse. We are requesting attorney general Carter investigate Planned Parenthood and act to protect our state’s young women.”

The press conference will be followed by a prayer vigil and caroling around an empty manger. The empty manger is not only a common symbol of hope and expectation for the coming of Christ at Christmastime, but it also serves as a stark reminder of the over 11,000 children who were aborted at Planned Parenthood facilities in 2007 – the latest year for which statistics are available – who will leave cribs and cradles empty this Christmas season.

Right to Life of Indianapolis educates the citizens of Central Indiana about the dignity and inherent worth of every human being in our society, particularly the unborn from the moment of conception, and the disabled and elderly until their natural death. Right to Life of Indianapolis equips various pro-life groups, including Teens for Life clubs in Indianapolis-area High Schools, church pro-life groups and other pro-life organizations with the tools they need to effectively communicate the sacredness of human life.
