(New York, NY) -- Wal-Mart is capitalizing on a growing interest in environmental sustainability by stocking store shelves with its own brand of eco-friendly coffees. The world's largest retailer will start selling six coffees under the Sam's Choice Fair Trade brand. In order for a product to receive Fair trade certification, specific economic, social and environmental standards must be met. Wal-Mart says its coffee roaster based in Brazil has cut its net carbon emissions to zero. Wal-Mart's vice president of sustainability Matt Kistler says the corporation is catering to socially conscious consumers who are aware of environmental issues.
