Casino Aztar's New General Manager Talks About Future Plans

By: Nichole Berlie
Updated: April 20, 2007
Maureen Keenan sits down exclusively with FOX 7 to talk about her first week on the job as the new general manager of Casino Aztar. Keenan found out late last month shed be taking over as Aztars general manager. Shes only the second GM in Aztars history, but shes confident shes the right choice for the job. Keenan says she doesnt have any plans to make any immediate changes after taking over for previous general manager Jim Brown, "I havent made any plans yet. The last thing you want to do in a new position is to make radical changes, but I want to see how things are going and then move on from there." Keenan says shes excited about her new position, but is being realistic and is anticipating future challenges. Some of those challenges may include the threat of layoffs after a recent switch in ownership to Columbia Sussex, which has prompted an investigation by the Indiana gaming commission, "We had talked about the potential of cutting some positions, but thats something i really cant get into because of things that are going on right now." Keenan may also have to deal with a potential decrease in revenue, due to an increase in competition from surrounding casinos like French Lick but Keenan says shes ready for the challenge and excited about the future.
