breaking news
No one really knows what the man behind the gun in Wednesday’s mass shooting was thinking.
But Wesley Neal Higdon left clues about his spiritual beliefs and his discontent in life, as he blogged online. Meanwhile, workers at Atlantis Plastics are back to work but flags across the street remain at half-staff. Management at Atlantis would not speak to fox 7 Thursday, but we did speak with Higdons great aunt off-camera. She says Higdons father died when he was very young, and as a result her great nephew had a rough childhood. Its part of a picture brought into clearer focus on Higdons myspace page. A page he had very recently logged onto to express his grief on the death of comedian George Carlin. His page also contains saddened messages from family members and a short eyewitness account from a coworker. Theres also a blog post showing Higdons distaste for a previous job. He writes: “Ive enjoyed my time off lately, but its time to get another job and save up some money and be cool once again. Jobs rule. and, I hear the same people work there from when I worked there a few years ago."
These things dont paint a complete picture, but they do provide at least some better understanding of the man behind the gun. Townsend Funeral Homes in Dixon is handling Higdons Funeral. Officials there told Fox 7 no date has been set for a memorial service.
There will be no visitation.
