The Freedom Festival is all about honoring past and present soldiers who have fought for our countrys freedom. This morning, as the the Thunder on the Ohio opening ceremony kicked off, a crowd gathered to honor future soldiers as well. Future members of the US Army and Air Force stood at attention while the community looked on in admiration. One by one their names were read; each young man and woman looking forward to serving the country. Future Army Soldier, Tyler McDowell, says, "It feels great seeing the veterans supporting us and knowing that one day that will probably be us." After they were sworn in, Congressman Brad Ellsworth shared a few words of wisdom with the group to thank them for their willingness to serve their country. Ellsworth: "At a time when the countrys in conflict and these young men and women can get called up to Iraq or Afghanistan, its a great tribute that theyre ready to serve." He says the festival is about races food and fun- but most importantly honoring our soldiers. The fourteen men and women sworn in today say they look forward to serving the country.
