An infamous Washington Avenue eyesore known as "Helens House" has finally come down.
Workers began just before nine oclock slowly tearing it down.
The now deceased owner Helen Gebhart was cited multiple times for too much clutter and code violations.
This eventually contributed to a fire and damages inside the historic home.
Even with all the problems, neighbors watching from the sidewalks had mixed reactions.
Greg Fehn, who lives next door, says structurally, it was in great shape and could have been saved.
The city condemned the home in 2004.
