Illinois' "Preschool for All" Will Continue for 2 More Years

Illinois is at the head of the pack for early childhood education.
Governor Rod Blagojevich signed new legislation that extends the nationally recognized initiative, Preschool for All, for two more years.
The program allows every community to offer high-quality preschool in a variety of settings, including public and private schools, child care centers and licensed family child care homes.
The teachers must also hold bachelors degrees, have specialized training and provide at least two and a half hours a day of high-quality programming that will foster all of the young childrens skills-motor, cognitive, social, and verbal.
A report published by the national institute for early education research singled out Illinois as a national leader for being the first state committed to serving all 3 year olds with quality preschool.
