Owensboro golfers are upset about plans to sell the Hillcrest golf course. City officials though are considering the move to generate more revenue. The course is valued at 3.5 million dollars and Mayor Tom Watson says the money is needed for several downtown projects. Golfers protested by presenting 300 signatures in a petition to the city commission. President of the Hillcrest Golf Association, Bob Williams says a sale would primarily affect retired people, people on fixed income and kids. The Mayor says they are looking at selling a number of city assets not just the Hillcrest golf course. He hopes to make a final decision on whether to sell the property in September.
