Roy Lee Ward Guilty Plea

The Louisville Courier Journal is reporting that Roy Lee Ward pleaded guilty in Evansville Thursday to rape and murder charges. Ward was going to be re-tried for the 2001 crimes against 15 year old Stacy Payne.. starting next week. He was convicted in 2002 in Spencer County.. after being arrested inside Paynes home with a knife in his hand. His sentence was overturned due to pre-trial publicity. Wards case will reportedly still go for sentencing next week.. before a jury selected from Clay County.
