Election officials say voter turnout was lower than expected across Indiana. Tuesday marked primary election day in cities and towns around the state. In Evansville, election officials say turnout was a little lower than expected at about 10-15 percent. Although turnout in Evansville was low, there were some surprises in other cities in surrounding counties. Mount Vernon Election Inspector, Bennie Watson says, "Were having about 25-30 percent turnout, including absentees. So were doing pretty good here in Posey County." Vanderburgh County Clerk, Susan Kirk says, "There just hasnt been a lot of publicity and theres just not anything to get people all fired up. Most times they need to be fired up and there hasnt been too much to fire them up at this time." Besides Evansville and Mt. Vernon, precincts in Boonville also tell us they had low voter turnout. Election officials say todays turnout results may be a sign of whats to come in November.
