Evansville Democrat Results

Updated: May 8, 2007
On a night when incumbents ruled, city Democrats say they still have a lot of work to do before the November general election.

At-large city council members Curt John and Keith Jarboe will both be on that ballot, joined by fellow Democrat Dan Adams. Steve Melcher, Democrat incumbent in the 3rd ward, did not face a primary opponent. He is moving on to November, and agrees there is quite a bit of campaigning to do before then.

4th ward council member Connie Robinson and 6th ward council member B.J. Watts also won. But those incumbents will be without veteran council member Steve Bagby, who is stepping down after this term as 2nd ward councilman. Democrat Missy Mosby gets her party's nod to try to succeed him.

Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel was running uncontested as well. He says he knows what lies ahead as he prepares for the general election, and says he's excited to build on his record. The county clerk's office has a full breakdown of election numbers.
