Owensboros International Barbeque Festival is not only about food but also about politics.
Its is a major attraction that draws politicians running for state offices and this year was no different.
There are nine candidates in the race for Kentucky Governor and all except one was there.
Democratic candidates Steve Henry, Bruce Lunsford, Joey Richards, Steve Beshear, and Gatewood Galbraith spoke to the crowd about the needs of Western Kentucky.
While Governor Ernie Fletcher talked about spending money to build stronger communities in Western Kentucky.
Republican candidates Anne Northup and Billy Harper also made speeches about what they can contribute to the state.
The event which has had low turnout in the past did not have that problem this year.
A large audience was able to see, meet, and judge the candidates for themselves.
The barbeque festival draws an estimated 80-thousand people every year.
