Indiana Creates Disaster Recovery Office For Flood Victims (Indianapolis) -- Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels has created an Office of Disaster Recovery as deadlines approach for flood victims to apply for federal aid. The office will be managed by state Department of Agriculture Director Andy Miller and is set to remain open indefinitely. Daniels said the office was created to ensure that "every Hoosier in every community avails themselves of the potential assistance." Only 179 of an estimated one-thousand local governmental agencies have filled out applications for public assistance, according to Daniels. The governor added that individuals might not be aware that they can be eligible for Small Business Administration loans. Residents in 37 Indiana counties are eligible for individual aid through FEMA. (Copyright 2008 by Newsroom Solutions) RNS-07-07-08 1609CDT
