Dr. Vince Bertram is back in Evansville, touring the schools that he will help run later this year.
The newly named superintendent of the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation was on hand for his first school board meeting Monday evening.
He says he wants to get to know the district before school lets out for the summer.
He praised the staff of the EVSC, saying they are the key to making education work.
Bertram says he plans to spend lots of time in schools once he takes the helm.
Dr. Bertram was recently named to the Indiana Education Roundtable for a second term.
That group helps advise the Governor about educational issues in the state.
