A house fire in Evansville Tuesday night killed a man who was home alone waiting for his wife to come home from church. According to the Vanderburgh County Coroner, 69 year old Oney Baker died from smoke and soot inhalation at his home at 802 Madison Avenue. When firefighters arrived to his home, heavy smoke poured from the house. Family members herd Oneys cry for help, but when they got to his room it was too late. Funeral arrangements are pending at Mason Funeral home in Evansville.
