A local woman fighting lung disease gets a little help from her co-workers.
Margaret Wingfield has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. She wears an oxygen mask every day, and every day, she still works in the deli at Buehlers Buy-Low on First Avenue.
She must travel to Saint Louis for 8 weeks to have an operation. While the surgery is covered by her insurance, other costs related to the trip are adding up.
So her family and friends at work are stepping in to help.
Today co-workers and management raised money for Margaret by selling barbecue, flowers and coupons outside the grocery store, while some of her family members offered a car wash for donations.
The outpour of generosity came as no surprise to Margaret.
