Is it alcohol or is it an energy drink? Its tough to tell the difference with all the new alcoholic energy drinks now on the market. The Kentucky Alcoholic Beverage Control department says many store clerks sell brands like Sparks and a new Budweiser brand to minors without knowing it. These alcoholic versions of Red Bull are similar in packaging but contain high amounts of alcohol. Henderson police officers say its easy to confuse the drinks but retailers must make sure their clerks know the difference. Sgt. Jeff Welch says individual clerks that sell alcohol to minors could get cited and have to appear in court. The Kentuckys beverage control department is offering information on alcoholic energy drinks in their training program and their newsletter.
