Dignitaries thank local veterans for their service with a ceremony and a major announcement. U.S. Representative Ron Lewis was among those participating in the service at the Owensboro Memorial Gardens. It included a wreath laying ceremony , a gun salute, and the formal announcement of a new veterans clinic in the city. Korean war veteran Ralph Ramirez was very excited by the news. He says its very difficult for some veterans to travel to clinics in Hanson, KY and Evansville because of transportation issues. Those responsible for bringing the clinic to the area say it could benefit more than 95-hundred veterans in the county. The clinic is slated to be located in the county health department building on Breckenridge Street.
