Baker Chapel Re-built

By: LaTonya Stephens
Updated: May 27, 2007
A year and a half after the 2005 tornado destroys their church... members of Baker Chapel are home once again. The methodist church located in Degonia Springs held its first service in the new facility Sunday. Construction began last summer with the help of volunteers from as far away as New York and is now nearly complete. Kristi Shreve lost a cousin in the tornado and says Baker Chapel members helped her make it through. She says watching the rebuilding process and watching the hope that they had help her re-gain her faith. Pastor Mike Shelton says the fellowship hall still needs to be finished but the congregation has come through stronger than ever. A celebration for the re-building of the church is slated for July or August.
