Update 11:45 a.m. From: Joint Forces Headquarters Missouri National Guard F15 pilot ejects safely Indianapolis - Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger, the Adjutant General of the Indiana National Guard, Joint Forces Headquarters confirms that an F-15C from St. Louis, Mo has crashed in southwestern Indiana near Vincennes, Ind. The aircraft was conducting air to air combat training missions in the Red Hills Military Operating Area just due south of Vincennes. A "good parachute" was spotted and the Indiana National Guard can confirm that the pilot has been recovered. Members of the 181st Fighter Wing, Indiana Air National Guard out of Terre Haute are in route to secure the crash site and have requested UH-60 Blackhawk support from 38th Aviation Brigade, Indiana National Guard. "Our first priority is the safety of the pilot and anyone who may have been affected on the ground," said Maj. Gen. Umbarger. "I have directed, in accordance with regulations, full support of ensuing investigation." Earlier Report: Fox 7 has confirmed that an F-15 military plane has crashed in Southern Knox County on Decker Chapel Road. We have also learned from the Knox County Sheriffs Department that one person apparently parachuted out of the plane. That person is said to be alright. The department does not report that anyone else was on the aircraft. Previously: Indiana State Police confirm they are responding to the scene of an incident in the very southwestern portion of Knox County. Reports to Fox 7 indicate that a military aircraft may have crashed in that area. Further reports indicate that county roads near the Beal area are being blocked off. Fox 7 has crews on the way to the scene and we will provide further details as they become available both on tristatehomepage.com and Fox 7 News at Noon.
