Volunteer fire fighters from six area departments helped battle a blaze at the St. Anthony Church in Dubois County Tuesday morning.
Fire officials say it started around 3:30 in the morning.
At one point, flames were shooting out of the roof of the more than one hundred year old structure.
About 75 volunteer fire fighters responded.
Investigators are still investigating the cause of the blaze, but say it may have started in the attic, due to renovations going on at the church.
Due to heavy demand placed on the St. Anthony water company, officials have issued a boil order advisory for customers in and around the towns of St. Anthony and St. Marks.
