The Daviess County, Kentucky Sheriffs Office has one man in custody and is looking for another in connection with the Memorial Day stabbing of a migrant worker. Jeremias Roblero died of a single stab wound in the early morning hours of May 28th. Monday, Sheriff Keith Cain announced that his department arrested Samuel Gomez at an Owensboro home and charged him with murder and false identification. They believe Gomez was an accessory to the crime. Now theyre searching for Eli Zumin Roblero, who they say stabbed Jeremias Roblero. The men are not believed to be related. Both the victim and two suspects are illegal aliens, according the Sheriff Cain. Cain says Eli Roblero and Samuel Gomez went to Jeremias Robleros home looking for a man named Wanerges Perez, who they believed was having an illicit relationship with a teenage relative of theirs. Perez was not home, but Jeremias Roblero was. Investigators say he was stabbed once in the stomach, and died a short time later from his wound. After two weeks of tracking down leads, they arrested Gomez after raiding a home on Maple Street in Owensboro. They believe Eli Roblero may have received word that investigators were looking for him, and fled. Sheriff Cain said dealing with Hispanic witnesses wasnt the real challenge in this case. "The primary barrier was not an inability to communicate with the Hispanics. The real barrier was the reluctance to tell the truth. You can do that in any dialect," said Sheriff Cain. Anyone with information about the case or Eli Robleros whereabouts is urged to call the Daviess County Sheriffs Office.
