The Henderson City Commission meet Tuesday night to discuss an ordinance to raise the monthly residential garbage rate by four dollars. The garbage fee hike had been discussed earlier this year after city officials decided to bring back the recycling program. Right now the garbage fee is 10 dollars.
Tonight was the first reading of the ordinance. The last time residents saw an increase was in the early 90s.
The official vote for the garbage fee hike will be in two weeks.
