If you found yourself in a crisis, who would care for your small child? Its a question two Tri-State parents recently asked themselves. One parent is Shaivora Joyner from Evansville. She was a high school Junior when she became pregnant. She desperately needed someone to watch her baby girl while she finished school, worked a part time job and began beauty school. The other parent we met is Robert Peter. He found himself in a crisis when he suddenly became a single dad. Who would watch his son while he was at work? Ark Crisis Child Care Center took care of the children for free. Joyner said, "They dont ask questions - they dont. I think its a big help. For all parents thats doing it on their own." Peters agreed, "I didnt know there was an ARK nursery. I didnt know nothing about it. And I went there and they said well do it for free. You dont have to pay us nothing. I was like, Alright because I dont have no money." The Ark Crisis Child Care Center operates on corporate sponsors, individual donations, and grants from foundations. They are hosting a fund raising gala Saturday evening, June 23rd. For ticket information, contact Gala Chair Erika Taylor at 812-868-1298.
