An Evansville woman is warning others to look out for email offers that may be too good to be true. We all get plenty of spam email offering what appear to be great deal. The emails can be hard to delte if they look honest. Ginger Molock thought an email she recently got was legitimate but it turned out to put her already financial strapped family in more debt. When Ginger Molock opened her an email offering a job shopping and getting paid for it the former waitress and mother of three thought it was the financial answer her family needed. "I thought that would be something great so I filled out the application on the internet,"says Molock. Molock then received papers in the mail telling her what to do, a phone number for a supervisor and a check for 5 thousand dollars to cash and use for shopping. Molock doesnt have a bank account so she used her fathers bank to cash the check. "I put the check in and it sat for 5 days and went through. I called him and told him the check cleared and he told me what I was supposed to do with it." Molock came to WalMart and spent 50 dollars. Then she went to Western Union to transfer $3,000 to the company that was suppose to pay her, but when Western Union saw it was going to Canada and person Molock didnt know they threw up a red flag. Molock says she asked them not to send anything. Thats when her father called saying the bank told him they cashed a frautlent check. "If the bank hadnt told me the money cleared I wouldnt have got the money and I wouldnt be in the mess I am now." Before the bank confirmed it was a bad check Molock already sent almost $2,000 to the fake secret shopper company through a money gram. "I thought I was doing something to help my family and I ended up hurting my family worse." She wants everyone to know what she went through so they dont lose money too. Molock has talked to the Candian police where this scam started and they say theyve already heard from many victims. The Better Business Bureau says there are signs to look for if you get this email. First no legitamate job offer comes through email. Plus, large corporations like WalMart have their own secret shoppers within the company.
