Get ready to drive into the future.
Indiana Senator Evan Bayh continued his push for more environmentally friendly automobiles.
Bayh joined senate majority leader Harry Reid and Senator John Kerry outside capitol hill to promote environmentally friendly hybrid-vehicles and biofuels.
Bayh says if we reduce our dependency on foreign oil, we can strengthen our nations economy while helping the environment.
"I was out here a month or two ago and drove a tesla around the capital complex. That gets about a 100 miles per gallon, and its pretty good looking too. And its got power. Its not an advertisement, but it shows this is not pie in the sky kind of stuff. This is the sort of thing we can be doing today, and we need to get on with it,"sayd Bayh.
The push comes a week after the senate unanimously adopted an amendment that forces auto manufactureres to increase the average mile per gallon for cars.
