Longest Day of Play

By: Nichole Berlie
Updated: June 21, 2007
Its official - summer is finally here. The start of the season was marked Thursday by the longest day of the year - that was also the theme at a special event in Owensboros Moreland Park. It was the "Longest Day Of Play" -- a family event which was completely free. It featured lots of easy-to-do-at-home physical activities. Organizers say it was a good way to encourage exercise for the entire family. Organizer Ashlee Rzycaycki says, "Were trying to encourage people to use the extra daylight hours of June 21, the longest day of the year, to get moving and get active." It took organizers a year to plan Thursdays event. Starting next week, theyll begin planning for next years extravaganza.
