Soul empowerment celebrates Juneteenth in a gathering at a local church.
Juneteenth commemorates the freedom of African Americans in Galveston, Texas two years after the emancipation proclamation.
This years theme was" Taking Your Health Back on Juneteenth".
Organizers celebrated with a meal service and a health fair, while also stressing the importance of this part of history to kids.
June 18th, of 2003 was proclaimed Juneteenth Day here by the mayor of Evansville.
