The horses rescued in Gibson County last month got a special visit from state legislators Thursday afternoon. State Senator Bob Deig (D-District 49) and State Representative Kreg Battles (D-Vincennes) toured the rescue facility to discuss possible changes to Indianas animal abuse laws. The pair spoke to horse rescuers about either creating new legislation, or cracking down on enforcement of laws already on the books. Anthony Caldwell, founder of Indiana Horse Rescue, says, "I dont know how effective theyre gonna be at moving things along, but people really appreciate these guys showed up and cared enough to see what is what." Rescuers say the horses have all improved dramatically, but they still have a long way to go. If youd like to make a donation, you can visit any Integra Bank - just mention the Gibson County Horse Rescue Fund. Volunteers are also needed to help care for the horses.
