Indiana Conservation Officers are taking to the water this weekend, conducting saturation patrols on the Ohio River.
The officers are increasing their patrols during the Freedom Festival. Theyre maintaining a high state of visibility as a reminder to the boating public to enjoy the festivities responsibly.
Officers are looking for such violations as no life jackets, hazardous boat wake, negligent operation, public intoxication, and boating while impaired...as well as maintaining safety perimeters for the Thunder events.
Officers say their goal is not to deter fans, but to prevent irresponsible boaters from attempting a good time at the cost of other boaters safety.
