The American Red Cross of Southwestern Indiana began Operation Celebrate Freedom today.
It is a two-day blood drive honoring those serving our country in the armed forces.
The red cross wants to show appreciation to the troops, while increasing their blood supply during the summer months.
"Were going to be giving a flag; a flag will be placed on the lawn for every donor in honor of a service member during the two days," says Candi Ott with the Red Cross
The Red Cross is the primary blood supplier for Southwestern Indiana.
It provides blood to 16 hospitals in the Tri-State.
The blood drive continues at the National Guard Armory Tuesday from noon until 7
