Local Airman Killed in Car Wreck

An airman with the US Air Force man was killed by an apparent drunk driver near Geff, Illinois overnight.
Police say it happened on US 45 in Wayne County around one this morning.
19-year-old Christopher Hardiek of Dieterich was on his way home from a U.S. Air Force base in North Carolina.
He was going to visit his parents before being deployed to Iraq.
Police say 22 year old Justin DeJaynes of Simms was traveling south in his pick up truck when he crossed the center line.
DeJaynes hit the pick up truck driven by Hardiek, who was not wearing his seatbelt
He was taken to the hospital where he died.
DeJaynes was cited for DUI, driving without insurance and failure to wear a seatbelt.
