Scherretz Found Guilty

After 9 hours of deliberations, a Henderson county jury convicted a Mt Vernon man of killing an elderly Henderson woman.
Jeffery Scherretz is accused of breaking into Anna Greens home in April of 2006 -- stealing her money -- tying her up with duct tape -- and killing her.
Investigators say Scherretzs fingerprints were found on duct tape used to bind the 80-year olds legs.
Published reports say the jury recommended a total sentence of 15 years -- 10 years for manslaughter and 5 years for the burglary charge, to run concurrently.
The prosecutor wanted Scherretz sent to prison for life.
Formal sentencing has been scheduled for August.
