Kenergy Utilities is offering a $2 thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of thieves who have been breaking into their service yard in Henderson and stealing copper wire. Scrap prices for copper are higher than usual right now, which police think has prompted the rash of thefts. The most recent break in took place June 29th, and thieves made off with 26 spools of wire, 3 chainsaws, and a very expensive piece of equiptment called a PowerMetrix Phase 3 test kit. Police dont believe the thieves knew what they were stealing when they took the PowerMetrix. Investigators think there are at least 2 accomplices working together. Theyve contacted local scrap yards, asking them to be on the lookout for the missing wire. If you have any information relating to this case, please call Henderson Police at (270) 831-1295.
