Mike Whicker was elected Tuesday afternoon to fill the County Commission seat vacated last week by President Cheryl Musgrave. Whicker is best known for his efforts to bring the LST ship to Evansville as a permanent attraction. He was competing for the seat against Bob Musgrave, Cheryl Musgraves husband. A new commission president should be chosen at a meeting Tuesday afternoon. Whicker was elected by the local Republican precinct committee members. 81 of those members voted today, though the breakdown of the vote was not released. Musgrave resigned for a state job working for Governor Mitch Daniels. The three commissioners must now decide who will serve as president, which should happen Tuesday afternoon.
