Eleven lucky students are one thousand dollars richer thanks to a scholarship give away at Ellis park. Kentuckys Thoroughbred Association partnered with the park to give back to students in the area. More than 15-hundred college students submitted applications for a chance to win one thousand dollar scholarships. University of Southern Indiana Sophomore Leah Martin was one of the winners. She was happy to get the extra grand to help out with expenses. Martin says she will use it towards classes, tuition and books. Over the years Ellis park and the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association have given away more than 200-thousand dollars in scholarships. There are also a scholarship days at Keeneland and Turfway park.
