First Day of School Also the Hottest

In addition to being the hottest day of the year, Wednesday was also the first day of school for kids in Daviess County, Kentucky. Administrators at Owensboros Audubon Elementary took extra precautions to make sure students stayed safe. To avoid any heat related problems, school officials allowed the kids to carry water bottles throughout the day. Administrators also switched recess from outside to inside. Principal Robin Winnecke says, "Ive notified all the teachers to make sure we dont go outside and find some kind of inside activity, inside the classroom." School officials are also allowing kids to bring water bottles on the buses., because theyre not air-conditioned and some children have as much as a twenty-minute ride back and forth.
