Golf Course Future

By: LaTonya Stephens
Updated: September 3, 2007
The future of an Evansville golf course could soon be in jeopardy. Vanderburgh county officials are suggesting that the land where Hamilton golf course sits would be better suited as a park. Golfers at the park though say they would like to keep this course just as it is. But the county is saying there may be a greater need to turn the property into something more residents will use. Vanderburgh County Commissioners say Hamilton's 220 acres would be a great location for a recreational park. They say with the amount residential growth in the area and competition from newer courses- it just makes sense. The Hamilton family's lease on the course is up in 2009. The county decision's on the property is expected to come in the next couple of months.
