Residents Question Town's Government

Some residents in one Warrick County town are questioning the way the government is running things. They say their town leaders are not giving any answers for some serious issues. People who live in Lynnville say the gem of their city is its park. But they say the future of that is in jeopardy along with the future of the whole town because of the way their town board president is running things. The tiny town of Lynnville is perfect place for for people avoiding the big cities. "Its quiet small town the folks here are really nice," says Rhonda Oakley. But for resident rhonda oakley one thing could be ruining her home of 15 years, Town Board President Catherine Wilson. An audit of Lynnville from 2001 to 2003 shows the town failed to pay for more than 38 thousand dollars worth of water bills. Oakley was told residents have to pay the difference. "Four person household is around 100 dollars per month thats ridiculous." Thats a good chunk of money for a place where the average household income is less than 40 thousand dollars. "I think a lot of it was Ms. Wilsons inability to do her job." Current board president Wilson was the clerk at the time of the audit. Oakley says theyre not getting any answers out of wilson about what went wrong. Oakley says its a matter of faulty leadership that is hurting other parts of the town. Theres a chance the city will close the town gem - lynnville park. "We were told repeatedly they just dont want to mess with it." Oakley says all this makes her feel a little unsure. Shes even talking about moving, "as well as a lot of people." But before that happens - shes says shes going to fight the issues before they do any other damage to her quiet town." Oakley says these are just two examples of a laundry list of problems. Repeated calls to Wilson about the issues were not returned. Calls to town hall and other city officials were also not answered. Oakley says her next step is taking the issues to the state attorney general.
