With this growing seasons late frost and extremely dry conditions, what will the bottom line look like for area farmers?
Many farmers are already harvesting their corn.
But some are finding that this years weather conditions are causing mixed results.
Dry corn in some cases with plenty of undeveloped kernels.
But Purdue Extension Educator Jon Neufelder says even with less than an inch of rain in August..... the corn crop has still managed to survive.
He says farmers will have a good year due in part to demand from local ethanol plants.
There is some bad news though, the soybean crop did not do as well.
Production is expected to be down 25 to 30 percent this season.
