breaking news
The Evansville riverfront once again looks complete.
The LST 325 returned to her home port Thursday morning.
The World War II ship had been visiting several cities in Illinois since late August.
It docked in Evansville a little after nine Thursday morning, returning from scheduled visits to Alton and Peoria.
The ships stay in Illinois was longer than planned though.
The Illinois River levels were so high that the ship couldnt pass beneath bridges down stream.
The long stay, though, did give 37,000 people the chance to climb aboard.
