One mans style is apparently another mans crime.
A petitioner at Tuesday nights Henderson City Commission meeting asked the city to investigate the possibility of making excessively droopy pants a punishable offense.
Youve likely seen the trend: young men wearing large, baggy pants that sag well below their waist line. In some cases, the stylish gentlemans underwear are even visible. That, said the petitioner, is disrespectful.
Sagging pants are popular in hip hop culture, but some cities and towns in the US have taken the step of making them illegal. That has incited accusations of racial profiling, because of the styles popularity with young African American men. The laws on the books barring sagging pants allow for fines in some towns.
Thats not likely to happen in Henderson, though. City commissioner Robbie Mills told Fox 7 that the city has neither "the reason or the right" to tell its citizens how to wear their pants.
