Triple Murderer Takes the Stand

For the first time ever, the public hears from the man who killed three people in Pike county last year. The defense called Nicholas Harbison to the stand in day two of Misty Davis trial. Shes facing charges for her role in the two week manhunt for her boyfriend after he committed the crimes. Nicholas Harbison has only told police laywers and friends details of last years murders in a pike county cornfield. Today in court the public learned some of what happened. Harbison testified his girlfriend Misty Davis did not know he killed three people and attempted to kill a fourth until after the couple left the state. But in a taped interview with police Harbison says he told her right away he killed 21 year old Spencer White. On the stand he claimed he only told her details. Two opposite answers. "All I can go on was his response that was I didnt tell her all the details," says defense Attorney Steve Whitehead. Thats improtant Misty Davis whose facing charges of assisting a criminal and lying to police if she did know before they left that he killed three people. Another important piece of Harbisons testimony and testimony all day was the legality of the couples marriage. Harbison says he believes and he always had that they are married but but the prosecution says thats not the case under some laws. Prosecutor Darrin McDonald says in Indiana you cant leave the state to get married in another if youre trying to avoid Indianas marraige laws. McDonald didnt seem to think anything Harbison said on the stand was credible because of "the whole idea to have someone with nothing to lose." Harbison is in prison for three life terms without parole. But its up to a jury to decide if Harbison is telling the truth. The jury is expected to get the case tomorrow. The defense only had the chance to call Harbison to the stand today. They havent decided if davis will take the stand, but her parents are scheduled to testify. The defense expects the case to go into deliberations shortly after lunch tomorrow.
