breaking news
2 year old Stormie Knight died when she fell out of a moving truck Wednesday.
She was only alone in the vehicle for a few moments, moments her parents wish they could have back.
Her parents, Waymon and Kim, both volunteer firefighters at the Drakesboro Fire Department have their share of tragic accidents, but they were never prepared for this and neither were those they worked with.
Dep. Chief Larry Major said, "Its shocking anytime theres a tragedy, tragic loss of life of anybody,. It just makes it more so when its one of your own."
It happened on Broad street. Kim Knight had just pulled into their driveway for a few moments, got out and ran into the house. About that time, her two year old daughter Stormie got out of her carseat, moved into the front seat of the truck and pulled it out of park. The truck began to roll, Stormie fell out and was fatally injured.
Everyone who knew Stormie cant believe shes gone.
He says her parents voluntarily risk their lives to save others, but in a split second, the life closest to them was lost.
Now community members are coming together to help them.
A visitation is set for Saturday from 9:00 until 4:00 at the Tuckers Beechmont Funeral Home.
Services are Sunday at two oclock.
The fire department set up a memorial fund for the Knight family.
Donations can be sent to the department at P.O. Box 130, Drakesboro, Kentucky 42337.
Make it Attention: Stormie Fund.
